Club Membership

The applicant must be proposed and seconded by a member of the club, unless they are a transferring Rotarian from another club, whose membership has not lapsed.

They should be either presently working in a senior position, or retired from a similar position. Unlike many organisations Rotary has no upper age limit, in fact many of our senior members are still very active in all the club activities.

They should be able to meet the following commitments:-

Attend or make up a minimum of 60% of the Club's regular weekly meeting's in each Rotary half year, the Rotary year runs from 1st July to 30th June.

Attend a minimum of 30% of the Club's regular weekly meeting's in each Rotary half year.

Lost Attendances can be made up by attending one of the following meetings within either 14 days before the planned absence or 14 days after the absence.

  • Another Rotary or Interim Club Meeting

  • Club Committee meeting

  • Club Council Meeting

  • Club Service Event

  • Club Fund Raising Event

  • District Meeting

  • Rotaract Meeting

If a member fails to attend meetings as detailed above, their membership will automatically terminate unless the Club Council consents to such non-attendance for good and sufficient reason.

The membership of any member, other than an honorary member shall automatically terminate if, without the consent of the Club Council for and sufficient reason, the member fails to attend or make-up four consecutive Club meetings.

A member will be expected to attend their relevant major and minor committee meeting's each  once a month in the evening, they should also wherever possible support the Club's various Service and Fundraising events together with the Club's Social activities.

Financial Cost

Weekly Meetings:-

A two-course meal is served at each Friday Lunch time meeting the cost (2008) is £9.00.

When there is a 5th Friday in the month, there are usually approximately four per year, an Evening meeting is held with partners, when a three-course meal is served the cost is typically (2008) £14.00.

Serving of Meals:-

At the weekly lunch time meetings twelve members wait on the tables, this duty is rotated each week, normally a member is on "Table Serving Duty" once a month.

Annual Subscriptions:-

There is an annual subscription charge of £87 to payable in July (2008), this is to cover administration costs of the Club, District, Rotary International Britain & Ireland and Rotary International.

Travelling:-

If a Rotarian relocates, or travels throughout the world they are assured of a friendly welcome and assistance if required from other rotary clubs.
