In November 2025 The Rotary Club of Banbury raised £7800 for childrens good causes through it's “Children Singing for Children” concerts.
It may seem a bit early to be planning for November 2026 - but in organising four evenings of concerts with around 600 children there's a lot to get sorted!
If you are a local primary school and haven't yet signed up - we recommend you do so ASAP and certainly befote 1st May 2026.
We can only accommodate maximum of 24 schools. So far we've got 17.
It's first come: first served so read on to make sure your school doesn't miss out on this truly uplifting event.
Children Singing for Children Concerts If you are new to them - they are exactly what it says! Children from schools sing and the proceeds from the concerts goes to support (mostly local) children’s causes.
Who benefits? Last year we raised £7800 and 3 charities with strong links to Banbury (Children Heard and Seen, Standing in the Gap and Alans Africa) each received £2100 with the remaining £1500 to a Banbury Rotary Club fund used to support children’s causes.
Banbury Rotary - amongst other things - sort the venue (St Mary’s Church, Banbury) , musicians, sound & lighting, marshals, first aid, Health & Safety, event insurance, tickets, advertising and other admin.
Schools sell tickets to parents and commit to ensuring a group of up to 24 children and their conductor get to a short afternoon rehearsal at St Marys Church Banbury and to the evening concert where each school sings 2 previously rehearsed songs of their choosing followed by a massed choir finale.
Parents purchase tickets and see their school provide an unforgettable experience for both pupils and themselves at the same time significantly contributing to children’s charities: in both respects, it’s good PR for the school.
Schools Register by 1 May 2026 There is a registration form - most schools should already have the link. The form takes only minutes, and we are often over-subscribed: first come- first served!
Rehearsals We’ll get back to schools with rehearsal timings before the end of summer term.
School Song Choices by the 30 September 2026 We’ll remind you that by the end of September you’ll need to let us know your school’s choice of songs and whether you’ll be wanting to use a backing track, or accompanist. Again there's a link to do this which most schools will already have.
Finale Songs These will be the same as last year. (“Sing” and “Children Singing for Children.”) Tracks, words and music scores are likewise available via a link.
Your school should have the appropriate links - but if not - please email johnkgroves@gmail and we'll provide them to you.
Who's already signed up? We can only accommodate a maximum of 24 schools. At the time of writing - 3 days into the registration we've got 16 signed up.
